I began building my first website in 1998. Then, in 2010 a friend and I began a business building websites. We wanted to help smaller churches that don’t have large budgets or an abundance of technical resources. Primarily I wanted to provide for others what I couldn’t find for myself, a low cost, really nice website that someone else could handle so that I didn’t have to worry about it. It was a great thing that we were able to do, but the demands of our day jobs and growing families led us to close down the business. However, over the years I have learned a lot about building websites, building servers, managing security issues, etc. And, there are more people that can benefit from my expertise in this area than just churches. Thus, I would love to put all that knowledge to work to your advantage regardless of whether you are a church or not. You have enough to do without having to worry about your website, so I can take care of that for you. I deal exclusively with WordPress websites, as WordPress has unbelievable flexibility, powers about a quarter of the internet, and is used by everyone from the casual blogger to the largest companies. Essentially, what I offer to you are two major services.

    1. Hosting – I will build you a Virtual Private Server (VPS) designed specifically for your WordPress site. Big box hosting companies try to be everything to everyone, so they have a lot of great software, only a fraction of which any particular client actually needs. This software slows the server and creates opportunities for security vulnerabilities. I build servers specifically for WordPress sites, which means they are optimized to do exactly what you need, nothing more, nothing less. This keeps the server presenting pages quickly while keeping down security vulnerabilities. A standard VPS with me will cost about $60/month for around 40GB of space and 600GB bandwidth. And, if you need more, we will upgrade to what you need at minimal extra cost. This is your own VPS, so you don’t have to worry about the security and speed threats that come with budget hosting that I have seen cause issues on many occasions. Want something more cost effective? Contact me and I will be happy to refer you to an excellent host. I may even be able to get you a discount. After several instances of giving referrals for some reported to be reliable low-cost hosting and continuing to see problems, I no longer recommend any of the lowest tier services. I will be happy to refer you to something you can trust that I still feel good about endorsing. But, that all depends on what you are looking for and what you are looking to spend. So, contact me and I’ll be happy to help you get what you need.
    1. Security – Since WordPress serves almost a quarter of the internet, that makes it a big target for hackers. There’s no 100% guaranteed solution to keeping a site from getting hacked, but there are a number of security measures that can be put in place to make it as secure as humanly possible. There is always the possibility that a plugin or theme may have a flaw in their code and you could be the unlucky one that gets hit first. However, for the most part, that is highly unlikely. Keeping your software constantly up to date, fending off brute force attempts, having good strong passwords, and consistent monitoring can go a long way. Over the years I have spent hours researching WordPress security and can put that expertise to work for you. Included with my security package is regular backups, that way in the event of a worst case scenario we are able to get your site back to running in a matter of minutes. If you are using a hosting plan by me, I am so confident in my security that I will get your site back up and running for free in the unlikely event that it was to get hacked. However, if you are using a different hosting company I will still be happy to secure your site pretty darn well, but big box hosting (especially shared $5/month hosting) can be extremely vulnerable to attack, so I will need to charge you a $110 charge for cleaning up or restoring your site. When it comes to installing the best tools, monitoring your site for attacks, keeping your website software up to date, and making sure you have regular backups, I take care of it all so that there’s one less thing you have to worry about. Additionally, the security package also comes with an SSL certificate so that your site is additionally secure with encrypted connections. My security package costs $55/month.
  1. Content Updates – Imagine if you never had to log into your website again. Imagine if you could work on your business or ministry without having to work on your websites. Imagine if you had someone that all you had to do was send an email telling what content needed to be changed or what new content needed to be posted and someone else would take care of everything for you. Well, this can be a reality, as I will be happy to update your content for you so that you have one less thing to worry with. For $50/month you can get 1 hour of updates. You simply send me your content, and I will log in and post pictures, text, or whatever content you need. And, what isn’t used will be rolled over to the next month for a total of up to three hours that you can bank.

And, if you were to decide to get all three, I will give you a major discount and give you all three for $125/month, almost a 25% discount for bundling the packages.

What about web design? I have designed quite a number of sites, and have been able to create some sites that I have been really excited about (and that have made clients quite a bit of money). I have learned that website design can vary in time and complexity depending upon the project, and with the priorities of my work at the Circle of Care, Hopewell, and my family, web design is simply something I can’t do well right now. However, I will be happy to talk with you about your needs. I have created friendships over the years with several amazing website designers I may refer you to a friend that specializes in exactly what you’re looking for.
